God's love for you...

Last night I was listening to some indie artists on youtube, and remembered how much I really like Adele's version of "Make You Feel My Love". I was sitting on the sofa just thinking about the lyrics, and it was like God Himself sat next to me and started singing it to me. I felt like he was saying, "I will do absolutely anything for you to show you how much I love you." I was suddenly overwhelmed. Those moments where you feel like everyone is against you and things are moving at lightning speed. Take time to remember just how much God loves you. He will do whatever it takes. Know that He delights in your every second of the day. We see who we truly are when we are gazing upon His face.

Here is the Link to the song. It is Sunday Funday! Enjoy it! :)

Back to school in style!

FIRST THING- Obviously you can find these items cheaper than what is listed! I will put together similar outfits that give you the same look for less money.

If any educators are looking for a great first day of school outfit, try this one. A simple cardigan (because we know the building is always freezing...if you are in a building) and a great modest-in-length pencil skirt.

I, personally would trade out the heels for a great pair of flats! When you take the time to dress nicely, it improves your demeanor and attitude. So, even if you are homeschooling your children, take the time to get out of those zebra-striped pajamas. Here is one more fitted for the homeschooling mom.

Find your favorite tunic and pair of black capris. It makes for a comfortable yet put-together look that can take you from doing schoolwork with your children to the grocery to bible study and back home. :)

I am looking forward to Monday. The students will be there bright and early at 8:30. I hope every educator, whether in public, private, or homeschooling has a great year with their students, and encourages them to be the absolute best they can be!

What do you love?

Seriously? What is it that you dream of becoming? This is a question that I am sure many people ask at different points in their lives. But why is it that some people actually do what they love and some don't? There are times I have to deal with myself and purpose not to get angry or jealous because someone is living out there dream and I feel like I have not arrived.

We hear "Dream Big" quite often, and we DO have big dreams. But in reality, we are choosing to allow our own excuses, past hurts, etc. hold us back from ever walking them out. Some people will say, "Well, you need to know God's will for your life." Ok. I do know God's will for my life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you...plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Pretty simple. So, now what? There are desires, dreams, visions we've had, places we desire to go, and ministries we want to be apart of that are just waiting for us! God has given us endless possibilities to what we are capable of accomplishing. I went to a meeting one Sunday evening, and William (Bill) Vanderbush was speaking on people getting hung up on the will of God. He simply said there is no one perfect thing God has for you to do. There are many things you do that bring Him joy and happiness. He loves you. He wants to please you, prosper you. He said, "it would be like me taking my kids to Toys-R-Us, and telling them there is one perfec toy in this store that I will for them to have. If you don't pick that specific toy, then you are out of my will. Make sense?

When Adam and Eve were in the Garden, they could have eaten from any other tree in the ENTIRE garden. Anything they chose would bring God pleasure because He simply loves and delights in them. He could have not placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden, but with love comes a choice. So He placed it in the garden. Adam and Eve chose poorly. There are paths we can choose to take that lead to destruction, but there are MANY paths we can take that don't.

God delights in us. He loves when we sing, dance, decorate, stay home with our kids, work, do cartwheels, cllimb trees, take out the trash, etc....He just loves us. Take some time to think about what you delight in that brings God so much joy to watch you do....and do it. :)

Closet Treasure of the Day:

J Crew Paintbrush floral belle skirt - $98
I found it at Buffalo Exchange (second-hand store on Guadalupe) for $11.50!
Great length, and it has pockets! :)

Here it is on (obviously not me. I haven't had time to do my hair yet).

Check them out...

This journey of wanting to be purely who God made me to be actually began a few years back, but I am now realizing how much I have desired to be all he created me to be. We all have a past. We have all been hurt, abused, mistreated, and put down in some way or another. But when we come to realize that truth of who we are and who we are created to be, those horrible memories are replaced with the unconditional love of God. He delights in us and thinks we're funny! We are so beautiful to Him. In order for us to believe the truth, we have to know when something is a lie. When we realize that we have believed a lie, we are then able to replace that lie with the truth of God and walk our way into freedom!  "Lies Young Women Believe" and Lies Women Believe" were written with that in mind.  I am on Chapter 3 of "Lies Young Women Believe", and I love it! Dannah Gresh is a wife, mother, author, and a spokesperson for purity. Her websites Pure Freedom and Secret Keeper Girl have resources for mothers and daughters to walk out the life of beauty and purity that God desires.

Here goes everything!

The beginning is always the most exciting, and the hardest part. I have been running this blogging idea around and around for months now. I had no idea what I wanted it to be. But after I began the journey of growing my hair naturally and hanging with my friend Traci Jackson, I decided that it was time to begin "Simply Modest."

Today, society is filled with images of young girls, teens, and women wearing clothes that reveal more than they really want or they have so many shades of eyeshadow on, they can't see straight.

So I am here to save the day! No, not really, but I want to shine a light on a few areas that will make or break a girls' idea of who she is- beauty and fashion.

Women love to shop, right? Right! But where in the world do we get the idea that super short shorts are cute and flattering? Do we really like the way we look in them? Are we dressing a certain way to gain the attention of someone else..aka MEN (or boys)? As young and older women, we have to get past the thought that we have to prove ourselves outwardly to get what we want. True beauty comes from knowing who you are inwardly, then expressed on the outside. 1 Peter 3:3-4 - "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." Discovering your beauty inside and expressing yourself in a modest, beautiful way is what this is all about!

So put on your Nike running shoes (my husband's preference),  favorite chunky bracelet, must-have lip gloss, and your desire to know how to live a simple, modest lifestyle and be beautiful doing it!

Just for fun, here are some modesty guidelines from the  Pure Fashion website. Do they sound difficult to follow? If you think so, you'd be surprised.
